Suppression List
Overview
The Suppression List is a critical tool for protecting your sender reputation and supporting the long-term success of your email campaigns.
When an address is suppressed, uSpeedo automatically blocks future emails to that recipient. This helps prevent unwanted sends, reduces spam complaints, and lowers bounce risk, all of which improve overall deliverability.
Key Features
- Automatic suppression: Addresses are added to your domain-level suppression list automatically when a recipient unsubscribes or marks your email as spam.
- Manual control: You can manually upload custom lists of email addresses that should no longer receive mail.
- Flexible scope: Manually added entries can be applied globally across all domains in your account or limited to a specific domain.
How It Works
You can manage your list at any time from the Suppression List dashboard.
Adding Addresses Manually
- Go to Settings > Suppression List.
- Click Add Suppression.
- Enter the email address or addresses you want to suppress.
- Select the Scope:
- Global: The address is blocked across all domains in your account.
- Domain-level: The address is blocked only for the selected domain.
- Click Confirm to save.
Managing Existing Entries
You can view, search, and delete entries directly in the dashboard.
Important: You can delete any entry, but we strongly recommend that you do not remove addresses added because of unsubscribes or spam reports. Sending to those recipients again can seriously harm your sender reputation and reduce deliverability.
Best Practices and Important Considerations
- Manage proactively: Updates to your suppression list are processed in real time. However, if an email task is already sending or waiting in the dispatch queue, there may be a delay before the change takes effect. Review and update your list before launching a new campaign.
- Know when to add addresses manually: We recommend manually suppressing addresses when:
- You have a list of known invalid or hard-bounce addresses from another platform.
- A recipient asked to be removed through another channel.
- You are migrating from another service and already maintain a do-not-contact list.
FAQs
If I delete an address from the suppression list, can I add it back?
Yes. You can add the address again at any time. However, if it was previously suppressed because of an unsubscribe or spam complaint, adding it back may put your sender reputation at risk if that recipient reports you again.
How do I know why an email was added to the list?
The Suppression List dashboard includes a Source column that shows whether an entry was added automatically, such as through an unsubscribe or spam report, or manually by a team member.
